Much unlike many a magazine editor who recommends you buy all sorts of crap that they most likely got for free, your Jezebel staff doesn't get jack shit (other than books, unsolicited). And that's how it should be. But on our own time, in our personal lives, we still buy stuff. Thus we're introducing Worth It, a daily recommendation of random things that we've actually spent our own money on. These are the things we buy regularly or really like, things we'd actually tell our friends about. And now we're telling you.
I used to think blush looked cheesy — associating it with the era during which I thought all made-up faces required blue eye-shadow — but there are times my cheeks could use the help. That is, in lieu of physical exertion. But Tarte cheek stain isn't cheesy, which may be why it has its own following. (I won't say "iconic." I won't.) It goes on sheer and looks as realistic as you can get without actually moving.
Apparently the product just had its tenth anniversary, but my guess is that getting the commemorative version studded with gold spelling out TEN is Not Worth It. Then again, it's the same price as the one I get, Blushing Bride (which, by the way, goes on far lighter than it looks).
My makeup supply can be divided into "things I lost" and "things I used so often I didn't lose them, but broke instead." And Tarte's cheek stain joined the latter category after I could no longer justify borrowing my roommate's one more time. I was still smearing it on when it was a stub with a broken base, at which point I was probably embedding past-due-generated bacteria into my skin.
