The Obamas Will Stay in DC So Sasha Can Finish High School

As the Obama presidency winds down, the First Family has a decision to make: Where are they going to live after the White House? Barack says that Sasha tipped the decision, and according to The Washington Post, they’ll be staying put:

“We’re going to have to stay a couple of years so Sasha can finish” school, he said. “Transferring someone in the middle of high school — tough.”

The 14-year-old attends Sidwell Friends currently.

This will make the Obamas the first outgoing presidential family to stay in D.C. post-term since Woodrow Wilson almost 100 years ago. “It always feels good being closer to home,” he said as they ate at Engine Company No. 3, a Milwaukee restaurant.

One of the women asked about Hawaii, where he was born. “Hawaii is home for me,” he replied, but he also suggested his real home is Chicago. “I spent almost 30 years in Chicago,” he said, also noting that it is Michelle Obama’s as well.

As for Malia, the eldest Obama daughter, she heads to college this fall, and the POTUS is just getting his tissues ready, according to an interview with Ellen DeGeneres in January.
