The Bill Cosby Jury Is Deadlocked

NORRISTOWN, Pa.—Jurors in the Bill Cosby criminal trial told the judge Thursday afternoon, “We cannot come to a unanimous consensus on any of the counts.” Judge Steven T. O’Neill said he considered them deadlocked but sent them back to keep trying.

The jury has been deliberating since Monday night and now has been at it for more than 30 hours. Cosby is charged with three counts of aggravated indecent assault for the night Andrea Constand says he drugged and then sexually assaulted her.

Before sending jurors back, O’Neill read to jurors Pennsylvania Standard Jury Instruction 2.09. It reads:

The defense also motioned for a mistrial before jurors entered the courtroom. O’Neill denied the request.
