The bloggers over at the The Business Woman decided to do their own write up about this weekend's biggest news story, the cat who enjoys being vacuumed the wedding of George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin. Here's some of the article they wrote in honor of Alamuddin's nuptials:
Amal Alamuddin, a 36 year old London-based dual-qualified English barrister and New York litigation attorney who has long been a high-profile figure in international refugee and human rights law has gone against the trend for professional women in her field and married… an actor.
Amal is an educated and successful career woman we've long admired. The high-flying barrister has notched up many career highs, including representing the controversial WikiLeaks whistleblower Julian Assange, and also has multilingual fluency in English, French and Arabic.
Amal attended St. Hugh's College, Oxford University, earning her BA/LLB and receiving the Exhibitioner, Shrigley Award. She also attended New York University School of Law earning her LLM and receiving the Jack J. Katz Memorial Award.
A true testament to her character is her decision to find time to serve on the expert panel of Preventing Sexual Violence Initiative (formed by UK Foreign Secretary William Hague) to gather evidence of sexual crimes committed in conflict zones.
It's a great tribute to her and her life's work. (This headline courtesy of i100 was a close second.) Frankly I'm still upset that my choice for the headline that announced the news "FACTS OF LIFE STAR FINALLY LIVES OUT TUTTI'S LONG TIME DREAM TO WED IN ITALY" was rejected. This exclusive video footage I obtained of their first kiss after the ceremony was also also turned down for being "too racy." The editorial policies here are biased against me and my creative vision as a blog artist. There I said it.

The comments to the piece are currently overrun with people pointing out that Clooney gets all the media attention, not because he's a man, but because he's super-duper famous. While that's obvious, it's also clear most pieces about the couple have focused on Alamuddin's beauty first and her accomplishments second. It's nice to be reminded of how easy and fun it is to celebrate both.
I would get into this discussion more but right now I am dealing with the major emotional breakdown my mother had this weekend upon learning that yes, Clooney did in fact get married. "BECKY. WHAT BULLSHIT. HE COULD HAVE BEEN YOURS. YOU WOULD HAVE MADE HIM SUCH A GOOD WIFE, BECKY."
