In the last women’s gymnastics event of the Rio Olympics, Simone Biles grabbed a gold medal in floor, while the captain of Team USA Aly Raisman took silver. They were followed by Great Britain’s Amy Tinkler who took bronze.
Tinkler looked deeply pleased after her performance, which warranted her a 14.933, but increasingly nervous as her competitors followed her, particularly after Biles scored a 15.966 and last year’s gold winner Raisman got a 15.5.
Italy’s Vanessa Ferrari went last, notably tearing up as she realized she would miss medaling in this event for the second Olympics in a row, news that was likely more difficult to handle because she’s retiring.
We can all go back to feeling fine about our life skills now sans daily reminders of our own inadequacy.
