Ryan Lochte is still trying to pick up the pieces of his self-shattered life after lying to the world about an armed robbery that was actually his drunk ass being a drunk ass.
His first step was securing some replacement, if slightly more low-budget endorsement opportunities. He then brought his apologies to the Dancing With the Stars stage because what the hell else does he have to do? Now, he’s blabbing his mouth about the lack of support he received from Michael Phelps who basically hit him with the: I don’t know you like that, bruh.
Lochte tells USA Today that after all that shit went down, Phelps never called him even though Ryan asked him to call him. What gives, man?!
“I think he texted me back saying, ‘Yeah, sure. I’m here to help,’ or something like that,’’ Lochte told USA TODAY Sports. “But he didn’t call me. I was like, ‘Hey, can you please call me? Let me know, I need help.’ That never really happened.’’
Lochte says he isn’t “hurt” or “resentful,” but he is telling a major newspaper a pretty boring story about a nonexistent phone call, so, you decide.
Ryan admits that Phelps is probably busy counting all his gold medals and raising his family. He also realizes Phelps, who was popped with DUIs in 2004 and 2014, probably doesn’t see it as a good idea to align himself with someone else’s dumb, alcohol-fueled mistake.
I can only call it like I see it, and it looks like Ryan greatest overestimated his non-Olympics friendship with Phelps.
“We’re close, but not like close-close,’’ Lochte said. “I could go hang out with him if I wanted to and have like a conversation easily, or we could go get a bite to eat or something like that. But we don’t.”
Yeah, yeah, if you wanted to. I definitely believe you, Ryan. Totally.
The real problem, of course, is if Ryan Lochte had simply read Shade Court, he would have known that Phelps came out of the gate throwing shade and probably had no intention of ever returning that call.
