- According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, special counsel Robert Mueller has “impaneled a grand jury in Washington to investigate Russia’s interference in the 2016 elections.” Mueller’s decision is likely a sign that his investigation is “growing in intensity.” According to the report, Mueller’s decision will allow him greater leverage to seek subpoenas. - Speaking of subpoenas, a grand jury has issued subpoenas over Donald Trump Jr.’s meeting with Russian officials. Reuters is reporting that the subpoenas were issued by a grand jury convened by Mueller. [Reuters]
- One more Russia story! Investigators found communications in which Russians spoke of possible collaboration with Paul Manafort. Apparently, former Trump advisor Carter Page has been under a FISA (United States Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court) warrant since 2014. [CNN]
- The President will spend seventeen days vacationing in New Jersey. Maybe Chris Christie will invite him to the beach...or a baseball game. [Associated Press]
- Before heading to the Garden State, Trump will hold a rally in West Virginia tonight. Earlier on Thursday, the president promised “a very big announcement,” at the rally. It looks like the news is that West Virginia Governor Jim Justice will switch parties from Democrat to Republican. [New York Times]
- Listening to Sebastian Gorka tell Fox News that the“President’s Twitter feed” can compel China to act on North Kora is in no way reassuring. [Fox News]
