After teasing us with promises of dancehall nights, wildly flattering bobs and wining for days, Rihanna has released the video for “Work.”
We begin with Riri and Drizzy rolling up to the club for an evening of grilled chicken, rum and lots of butts moving in amazing ways.
It’s hard to imagine this video being about anything other than Rihanna feeling herself and wining all night and that’s what we got. Her IRL homegirls make appearances while Rihanna sheds her pink Cam’ron fur and stresses Drake out in public.
Shots are being poured into plastic cups so you know it’s going to be a good night. I still, however, maintain that Drake would be really temperature-hot wearing that sweatsuit in the club. No matter, the rules of universe do not apply when you’re Rihanna and Drake.
Which is probably why they decided to extend this experience with a SECOND VIDEO. We transition from the club to some seedy, pink-tinged back room where Rihanna has revisited the hair from her “Pon de Replay” days.
As Kate Dries pointed out, this double header is exactly what you need because who seriously plays “Work” once and then just goes on with their life? If you’re not spending at least three spins watching yourself dance in the mirror to this song then you’ve missed the point entirely.
Drake mostly sits there and watches Rihanna dance which is what I assume happens most of the time when they hang out.
As Anti keeps growing on me, Rihanna continues to deliver something that I wasn’t necessarily expecting, but somehow exactly what I want.
