Yet another school shooting took place last night, roughly the 249th mass shooting in the United States this year. One person was fatally shot and three people were wounded in a shooting in a parking lot at Flagstaff’s Northern Arizona University.
The university’s public relations director told the Associated Press that first 911 call about gunfire was placed at 1:20 a.m. There’s no information about either the victims or the suspect, who was arrested and remains in custody.
NAU says the incident is over and the school is not in lockdown; they’ve set up a family assistance center at a neighborhood restaurant, but classes are scheduled to go on as usual.
The university released a statement saying that they’re cooperating with the Flagstaff Police Department and more information will be made available as they have it.
