Rollin Anthony Owens Jr. stands accused of kidnapping a Durham, North Carolina family from their home and forcing them at gun point to go shopping with him at a Target, WTVD reports.
The 29-year-old allegedly knocked on the family’s door on Tuesday morning, asked for money, got some, then pointed his gun at the husband, wife, and two children, and demanded they drive him to Target.
Once they all arrived at the Target, having stopped to get cash at various ATMs, Owens and the family began purchasing clothing and gift cards.
The spending spree came to an abrupt end with one of the family members notified a Target employee that the family was shopping under extreme duress, and the employee called 911.
WTVD reports that Owens has 23 previous convictions and is now facing counts of second-degree kidnapping and robbery with a dangerous weapon as he waits in jail with bail set at $1 million.
