Six actors who each star in a recently released film talked to the Hollywood Reporter, and each other, on Tuesday, about various charming and urgent matters—plus one time Margot Robbie found a severed human foot on a beach in Nicaragua!
Here’s the relevant section of that roundtable (note: Diane Kruger with my favorite reaction):
Margot Robbie: I once found — and no one guessed that this was me — I found a human foot on the beach in Nicaragua.
Octavia Spencer: Oh, wow, death!
Diane Kruger: Just the bones?
Bryan Cranston: And she uses it as a door stop. (Laughter.)
Robbie: Just a little souvenir.
Robert Pattinson on the personal best line he’s delivered in his acting career (at the end of David Cronenberg’s film adaptation of Don DeLillo’s Cosmopolis), is also amusing! (What does it mean?)
No one has ever said this to me, but, ‘My prostate is asymmetrical.’ I always really loved that. (Laughter.) From [2012’s] Cosmopolis. It was me and Paul Giamatti, I say it when we’re crying together. He’s like, ‘Mine, too.’ And we’re like, ‘What does it mean?’ He’s like, ‘It’s nothing, it’s a harmless variation. At your age, why worry about it?’ It’s one of my favorite scenes I’ve done. Couldn’t tell you what it means, but it really means something to me.

On Tuesday, hours after Meryl Streep responded to Rose McGowan’s strong suggestion that she knew about Harvey Weinstein’s predatory behavior toward women and continued to work with him anyway, these posters began cropping up around Los Angeles.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the posters were found near Streep’s Pasadena house, and across from 20th Century Fox’s studio lot in Century City (Fox being the production company behind Streep’s next film The Post).
Here’s what Streep had to say to McGowan on Monday (full statement here):
“It hurt to be attacked by Rose McGowan in banner headlines this weekend, but I want to let her know I did not know about Weinstein’s crimes, not in the 90s when he attacked her, or through subsequent decades when he proceeded to attack others.
I wasn’t deliberately silent. I didn’t know. I don’t tacitly approve of rape. I didn’t know. I don’t like young women being assaulted. I didn’t know this was happening.
…..
HW distributed movies I made with other people.
HW was not a filmmaker; he was often a producer, primarily a marketer of films made by other people- some of them great, some not great. But not every actor, actress, and director who made films that HW distributed knew he abused women, or that he raped Rose in the 90s, other women before and others after, until they told us. We did not know that women’s silence was purchased by him and his enablers.”
How about let’s cool it on the unsubstantiated charges of complicity and sanctimonious Barbara Kruger imitators.
