As Kanye West’s erratic stage presence as of late culminated in his hospitalization in Los Angeles Monday, his wife Kim Kardashian was on a private jet en route to a benefit honoring her late father, in what would have been her first appearance since she was robbed at gunpoint in Paris earlier this year.
Page Six reports she flew right back upon landing in New York and learning of the news.
West, whose on-stage behavior had become increasingly erratic in recent days, was reportedly placed under a psychiatric hold at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center Monday, after police responded to a call about a “disturbance” at a residence around 1:20 p.m. There, they determined it was a medical welfare issue, the AP reports.
Reports from that point on differ; TMZ claims West was under restraints when he was admitted, while People says he went freely.
West’s camp is working to minimize the damage, characterizing his meltdown as “exhaustion.” A source that sure sounds like a West spokesperson tells People, “He’s just exhausted. He’s been working around the clock on fashion design, both on his own line and the Adidas line. He’s a notorious workaholic, so balancing both that work — which is extremely important to him — and the rigors of the tour every night, it really wore him out.”
