As expected, Kevin Hart is not thrilled at being called a whore by a Sony executive and his response was a resounding "go fuck yourself."
As Jezebel's older-cousin-with-motorcycle-site Defamer reported on Wednesday, in one of the emails obtained through the massive Sony hack, executives wanted to Hart to promote one of his upcoming films (possibly Think Like a Man, Too) on his Twitter account, which currently has more than 14.4 million followers. Hart reportedly was fine with this, but wanted additional money for what he saw as essentially advertising the film on his Twitter page. That irked some Sony execs.
"I'm not saying he's a whore, but he's a whore," studio exec Clint Culpepper wrote in the exchange. A "whore" for basically asking to be paid to do something outside of his original contract specifications.
On Thursday, Hart responded via his Instagram account.
"Knowing your self worth is extremely important," he wrote. "I worked very hard to get where I am today. I look at myself as a brand and because of that I will never allow myself to be taken advantage of."
"I OWN MY BRAND ... I MAKE SMART DECISIONS FOR MY BRAND ... which is why I'm able to brush ignorance off of my shoulder and continue to move forward," Hart wrote on the Instagram message. "I refuse to be broken people ... with that being said it's now time for me to get back to building this empire that I've always dreamed of!!!"

I am firmly Team Hart on this one. Don't drink the pickle juice. Ever. And to call someone a "whore" because they are protecting their image or they have the confidence to recognize their self worth and can stand up and demand to be paid accordingly is bullshit. This is how people get exploited. Because they are taught that valuing themselves and their contributions is somehow shameful. Fuck that noise.

- New rule in entertainment news reporting. Everyone is hereby forbidden from using the phrase "takes the plunge" when writing about a woman wearing a low cut dress/top. It had a great run but it stopped being funny in 2006. You used it to death and killed it. Mourn it properly with a respectable funeral and remind yourself to bring flowers to its grave every other Saturday. But never ever use it again in a headline or photo description. [Daily Mail]
