The Fast and the Furious franchise arrived in 2001 swathed in tight tank tops, bright cars and Paul Walker’s blue eyes, and 15 years later, the sequels somehow keep getting better. So much so that Charlize Theron, who has a hard time getting cast in some roles because she’s very beautiful, has joined the very good-looking cast of Fast 8.
Theron, according to Variety, will play “some sort of villain” and filming begins in April 2017. She’ll be joining longtime Fast franchise players Vin Diesel, Tyrese Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez and Dwayne Johnson. F. Gary Gray will be directing and if you’re wondering how you know Gray, he’s the guy who somehow directed 1996’s Set It Off, a female-driven film featuring one of Queen Latifah’s best performances, and then 2015's Straight Outta Compton, where he shat on nearly every female character portrayed as well as a female journalist who questioned why he did so. Not to mention, former Los Angeles TV host Dee Barnes revealed that he was one of those who did not help her when Dr. Dre assaulted her in a crowded room in the 1990s.
But, you know, Fast 8 coming soon.
