A tsunami warning is in effect in Fukushima, Japan, where residents have been urged to evacuate following a 6.9 earthquake that struck off the country’s coast on Monday evening. The earthquake was downgraded after initial reports placed it at a 7.3.
The Japan Meteorological Agency warns a tsunami between three to ten feet could follow the earthquake, which struck off of the eastern coast of Honshu at 5:59 a.m. Tuesday (3:59 p.m. Monday ET), CNN reports.
