The embodiment of perfection known as Gina Torres has landed the starring role in an upcoming ABC drama pilot, The Death Of Eva Sofia Valdez.
The show was written by Cuban-American writer Charise Castro Smith and is being co-produced by Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters. Via Deadline:
It centers on Eva Sofia Valdez (Torres), an immigrant who rose from rags to riches and is a celebrated Miami entrepreneur and a champion for immigrant rights. But the success of this “modern-day Havana-born Cleopatra” is fueled by an insatiable ambition that could destroy her family, a vendetta against the lover who betrayed her, and ghosts from the past who threaten to reveal the dark sacrifices Eva Sofia made to attain the American Dream.
Dear lord I would watch the hell out of that.
I personally will be keeping my fingers crossed for this show to get picked up because one, it sounds amazing and two, we’ll have an Afro-Latina starring in her own show written by a Latina on a major television network with two female executive producers.
For any Suits fans, you can relax for now. Jessica Pearson will live on, slaying your entire life, at least through Season 6 when Gina Torres’ contract ends.
