Daniel Holtzclaw, the former Oklahoma City police officer who was sentenced t0 263 years in prison for raping and assaulting black women, has been removed from the state’s DOC online logs. The website, which shows inmate’s mug shots, conviction history, and location, currently has no record of Holtzclaw.
The NYDN notes that Holtzclaw’s last known location was the Lexington Assessment and Reception Center. He was taken there for intake processing on Tuesday but has since disappeared from the online system. State officials told local NBC news station KFOR that the deletion was a security decision.
“We are not going to comment, it is a matter of security,” Terri Watkins, the Oklahoma DOC Spokesperson, told KFOR when they inquired about Holtzclaw’s location. Watkins assured the station that Holtzclaw was still in custody, but refused to disclose where he was being held.
KFOR has screenshotted the database, showing that Holtzclaw’s file—with his mug shot—was in the system on Tuesday; by Friday, however, his records had been removed. According to KFOR, none of Holtzclaw’s victims were notified about the change of status.
NYDN reports that the Oklahoma Department of Corrections houses one other former police officer, Randy Harrison. Harrison, who was convicted of manslaughter after killing an unarmed 18-year-old, is listed in the DOC’s online system.
