Cool New Box Set of Music, Stories, and Comedy Benefits Planned Parenthood

Out today digitally is the very cool new box-set 7-Inches for Planned Parenthood, which includes a collection of 7-inch vinyl records featuring new music, live performances, spoken word and comedy.

The box set includes music from artists like Feist, Estelle, the Foo Fighters, Sleater-Kinney and more. There are also stories and poems written and read by women like dream hampton and Margaret Atwood and excerpts from live comedy performances from Jenny Slate and Margaret Cho. Right now I’m partial to this gorgeous Mitski cover of Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You.”

You can listen to all of this here on Spotify or Apple Music. The physical box set, for those who have record players and still love to use ’em, is out November 17. And Planned Parenthood gets 100% of the proceeds from the sale of the box set and streaming.

And if you’re thinking that “7-Inches for Planned Parenthood” sounds a little porny, you’d be correct in thinking that! “This curated series of 7-inch vinyl records is being made by a group of people who believe that access to health care is a public good that should be fiercely protected,” reads a press release for the box set. “Do we know there’s a joke in the name? We do.”
