Connie, we missed you.
After leaving Nashville in a dramatic death sequence from which her character will absolutely not ever reurn, Connie Britton’s first role in a scripted TV series will be on the new show Showtime comedy SMILF. According to The Hollywood Reporter, SMILF is based on a short film of the same name by Frankie Shaw. The movie follows a young mother in Boston trying to get laid and also raise her son:
Britton will be making recurring appearances as Ally, the boss of protagonist Bridgette, who is played by Shaw. She is “unstable” and also something of a mentor to Bridgette who “struggles with boundaries and finds herself in constant pursuit of self-betterment.”
The series only has a ten episode order at the moment, and Britton has said she wanted a gig with a less “rigorous” schedule than broadcast TV. Now she can pop in, give advice to Shaw about sex, wave hello to co-star Rosie O’Donnell and her wig, then head home.
