Since giving a pilot order to the new Nancy Drew-themed television series, CBS has released more details about its premise, reports Variety. Simply titled, Drew, the show will turn the iconic girl detective into a 30-something who “investigates and solves crimes using her uncanny observational skills, all while navigating the complexities of life in a modern world.”
As previously reported, the reboot is expected to feature a woman of color in the lead role. There’s no word yet on which actresses are being considered to play Nancy or if they are looking for specific ethnic background. “I’d be open to any ethnicity,” CBS president Glenn Geller had said.
Different versions of Nancy Drew-inspired television shows have been filmed in past decades, such as The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries, which aired in the late 1970s, and a Canadian production that aired in 1995. The latest film adaptation was released in 2007 and starred Emma Roberts as Nancy.
