Oh man, summer of ‘99- I had just graduated high school and was working in a Dairy Queen in Cocoa Beach, FL before heading off to college. Now my two kids just came in from the backyard, loudly complaining of dizziness after spinning themselves around on the swing. Read more

I think at the time I had just extracted myself from the Science Fiction Book Club (also run by Doubleday). This luckily introduced me to Barbara Hambly but also tricked me into Piers Anthony. Got rid of almost all of those, what a metric ton of hardcovers to deal with.  Read more

Jenny Cruisie would be a good call. I love her snarky rom-com style. Read more

Don’t sleep on “Top Secret Recipes,” tucked away by the reply card perforation — restaurant knock-offs galore, and while a ‘Lite’ label is usually concerning, it’s a reliable series so it’s worth a try. (Forget Burpee’s complete gardener, friend; we’re not espaliering pear trees at our summer estate. Rodale’s Read more

I have read through Red, White, and Royal Blue twice this week so I guess that’s a big statement on how I’m doing, mentally. Read more

I’m working through The Mirror and the Light (final installment of Mantel’s Thomas Cromwell trilogy). I can’t go two pages without Googling a character’s eventual fate and I don’t know why I keep bothering. They were all beheaded. Every single one. Read more

That first picture reminds me of my 12th summer. I lived in the middle of nowhere and spent the whole school break reading in a hammock ( Sacajawea, 1300 pages). My local library is closed, but I can still check out e-books. It’s all chick-out and Wheel of Time series for me right now. I'm so lonely, *sob* Read more
