Active Shooter, Two Reported Dead at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio

An active shooter opened fire at Lackland Air Force base in San Antonio around 8:45 Friday morning, police said. Details are still sketchy, but the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office confirmed at 10:41 that two people have died.

The Associated Press reports that the sheriff’s office has called the incident “an apparent murder suicide.”

Update, 11:10 a.m.: Around 11 a.m, the sheriff’s office told Reuters the shooting is “over,” but that deputies are still on the scene. The FBI has also been called in to assist. Parts of the base remain on lockdown, including three schools.
