When you see the Twitter handle @POC_Beauty, what would you imagine that account to be? Beauty tips for women of color? A celebration of diverse faces, perhaps?
Wrong, it’s the Twitter handle for Kristen Taekman’s cosmetics line, Pop of Color! You know, like a bright lip color that really anchors your outfit!
Poor Kristen. First this beautiful boring statue who refused to start fights “decided” to “leave” the Real Housewives of New York City, and now, in an attempt to join the ranks of fellow reality entrepreneur Bethenny Frankel, she has inadvertently displayed her very keen White Lady Oblivion.
And as Racked points out, there already are many, many versions of that handle. Methinks Pop of Color Beauty’s social media team is not long for this world:
@PoCBeauty: “The First PoCBeauty. I list race, ethnicity, and nationality.”
@LGBTQIAPoC: “We highlight PoC beauty in the LGBTQIAP community”
@beauty_poc: “showcasing hotties from all cultures”
@POCBeauties: “I have yet to find a page that showcases unconventional beauty.”
@beautyofpoc: “An account for people of color to showcase their beauty.”
Right at this very moment, a delicate crease temporarily mars Kristen’s angelic brow. “Oh, shoot,” she thinks to herself, two pops of bright red color blooming on her cheeks.
