Doesn’t it feel like Meghan McCain has always been on The View? To me, it feels like Meghan McCain has always been on The View. She was never not on The View, so how could today have been her first day as new co-host of The View? Not possible. Maybe she was lurking inside of the body of Jedediah whatsherface for the past however many months that woman was there before she quit, but whatever form she was in, Megan was always there somehow, the spirit of her bullshit floating through the air like a humid mist off a polluted lake.
Anyway, Monday was technically Meghan’s first day on The View. What happened? She was welcomed by walking on stage to “Confident” by Demi Lovato. It’s true, Meghan is many things and confident is surely one of them. She then said a truly insane thing: “It’s such an iconic show, and it’s so iconic specifically to be sitting in this chair that Elisabeth made so great.
“To be the conservative on this show is something that I take very seriously,” Meghan went on to add. This is Whoopi’s face when she said that:
She then praised Whoopi for how kind she is to young talent, and Whoopi smiled. WHOOPI!
Meghan then stumbled over her words but seemed to have tried to say that a lot of women haven’t been supportive of her in her career? Bummer, and very confusing.
Then Meghan talked about how committed she is to talking about cancer following her father’s diagnosis. Shortly after, she started claiming not enough people are asking actors and actresses to comment on the sexual harassment allegations against Harvey Weinstein and that when she worked at Fox News it was all people she talked to could ask her about, and isn’t that hypocritical? “There are a lot of crickets right now and let me tell you, the media is more than happy to dance on the grave of Bill O’Reilly and all the other sexual harassers in conservative media; I don’t understand why those same standards don’t extend to Hollywood.”

That’s me thinking, and also pondering my own death.
Lastly, here’s a video of Jason Ritter breaking the Guinness Book of World Records record for most hugs in a minute. Meghan did not get a hug, but it was one nice thing that happened during her first episode.
