Very excited about this item: Deadline reported on Thursday that former Daily Show correspondent Jessica Williams is slated to write and executive produce a Showtime series with director Jim Strouse, whom she also works with on the Netflix comedy The Incredible Jessica James.
Williams will also star in the series, which, according to Deadline, “tells the story of an African American aspiring science fiction writer who comes of age in Brooklyn.” I mean, it’s not much to go on, but I like what I see. The tv universe has been woefully fresh out of comedic tales of authorial maturation set in Brooklyn this season.
In August, HBO announced that it would run four hour-long tv adaptations of Jessica Williams and Phoebe Robinson’s WNYC podcast 2 Dope Queens. Dates have yet to be announced announced for either show.
