Trump Reportedly Trash-talked White House to Golf Buddies, Calling it 'a Real Dump'

As if we needed more reasons to associate “Trump” with “dump”! According to a story published—where else?—on golf.com on Tuesday, Donald Trump told some of his fellow golfluencers recently that he prefers staying at his own hotels and clubs because, in his words, “That White House is a real dump.” I guess that would make his administration the trash?

Trump spent 21 of his first 26 weekends away from the 55,000-square-foot presidential palace, according to CNN, opting instead, for the most part, to stay at his lavish Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida. The Center for American Progress Action Fund’s website IsTrumpAtMarALago.org estimates that Trump’s weekend vacations at Mar-a-Lago have already cost taxpayers $29 million.

In response to Trump’s remark, Chelsea Clinton went high:

According to this quote the Huffington Post dug up out of Barack Obama’s 2006 book, The Audacity of Hope, it’s not that the White House isn’t nice, it’s just not as nice as you’d think:

“The inside of the White House doesn’t have the luminous quality that you might expect from TV or film; it seems well kept but worn, a big old house that one imagines might be a bit drafty on cold winter nights. Still, as I stood in the foyer and let my eyes wander down the corridors, it was impossible to forget the history that had been made there—John and Bobby Kennedy huddling over the Cuban missile crisis; FDR making last-minute changes to a radio address; Lincoln alone, pacing the halls and shouldering the weight of a nation.”

Well, Donald Trump definitely wouldn’t enjoy the sight of anything that doesn’t look like it does on TV. That would be a major deterrent. Also, all that history Obama was referencing is so Unattractive! Bad! TIME TO MAKE A CHANGE!

A White House official denied that the President made the dump remark, according to golf.com
