London Mayor Does Not Want Trump to Visit the United Kingdom, Obviously

As you may recall, our overcooked, overdone steak-gobbling president is scheduled to pay a visit to the United Kingdom. While there, he would inflict himself upon both Queen Elizabeth and Parliament, and no doubt countless other innocents. But after starting a Twitter feud with London mayor Sadiq Khan, Khan is calling for the trip’s cancellation.

According to The Hill, Khan doesn’t fancy welcoming Donald Trump to England when he spewed such vitriol immediately following the London Bridge terrorist attack. While Khan was overseeing rescue efforts, Trump busied himself criticizing the mayor’s leadership.

Of course, our fearless leader does not comprehend any response to emergency that is not reactive, blustering, and fear-mongering.

Khan emphasized that Trump’s policies and behavior should not be sanctioned with a visit.

“I don’t think we should roll out the red carpet to the president of the USA in circumstances where his policies go against everything we stand for,” Khan told Britain’s Channel 4 News.

He continued, “When you have a special relationship it is no different from when you have got a close mate. You stand with them in times of adversity, but you call them out when they are wrong. There are many things about which Donald Trump is wrong.” Truer words, Mayor Khan.

Khan never responded directly to Trump’s tweets—his spokesperson explained that the mayor had “more important things to do.” Ideally, so would our president.

This is not the first time Khan has argued against Trump’s visit. He has previously referenced the Muslim travel ban which Trump is so keen to reinstate, calling it “cruel.”

All of this is true and reasonable. And for America, it’s all so woefully embarrassing.
