Atlanta Actor Lakeith Stanfield Trolls Silicon Valley Winner at Critics' Choice Awards

On Sunday night, at least one person at the Critics’ Choice Awards decided that if reality no longer matters we might as well have some fun with it.

After HBO’s Silicon Valley won Best Comedy Series, Lakeith Stanfield of Atlanta (which was also nominated for the award), jumped on stage. Beating Silicon Valley’s executive producer Tom Lassally to the mic, Stanfield then very seriously stated, “I want to thank everybody for honoring us in this way. We worked very hard on Silicon Valley, and here we are. Thank you.”

Presenters Christian Slater and Leslie Mann watched gamely, frozen smiles in place, while Lassally wandered behind, unsure what to do. It’s a truly delightful troll, especially as when Lassally does finally get his statuette from Mann’s rigid hands, he says, “I have no idea who that was. Wow.”

Stanfield’s comment on the night appeared on Twitter late Sunday:

He also congratulated Donald Glover on his win for Best Actor in a Comedy Series. I think?:

The Golden Globes announced some nominations for Atlanta on Monday. This awards show season is definitely looking up.
