One of the only things that brought me joy on the Internet this summer was the bald Daddy feud between Vin Diesel and The Rock on the set of The Fate of the Furious. It turned out to most likely be a PR stunt, but what can I say: it worked, and now I care about this stupid trailer.
If you were hoping to see cars in this trailer then you’re about to lose your shit. Vin Diesel’s Dom is having some sort of midlife crisis, and since he already owns all the sports cars, he decides to deal with it by betraying his car family to go smooch Charlize Theron. His betrayal lands The Rock in jail to face off with Jason Statham, but both are eventually freed to get new $200,000 cars to destroy in an attempt to bring Dom down.
Of course, they take their orange Lamborghinis to an ice floe and get chased by a submarine, which is by far the most realistic moment of the entire franchise.
We don’t know why exactly Dom would betray his fam like that, but it may be some sort of mind control. Or the power of an icy blond with killer hair extensions.
