Kristin Davis Is 'Filled With Terror' for Her Adopted Black Daughter In Trump's America

The Great Wokening in the aftermath of Donald Trump’s election has begun in earnest: Kristin Davis is reportedly “filled with terror” for the life of her adopted black daughter.

“I am white. I have lived in white privilege. I thought I knew before adopting my daughter that I was in white privilege, that I understood what that meant,” the actress said, speaking at the Greene Space in New York. “But until you actually have a child, which is like your heart being outside you, and that heart happens to be in a brown body, and you have people who are actively working against your child, it’s hard,” she continued. “It fills me with terror.”

In 2011, Kristin Davis adopted Gemma Rose Davis. In 2016, Davis realized that her whiteness only protects her and not her daughter. Great.

“My initial thoughts on Wednesday morning was that I wanted to move to the woods and learn to shoot a gun,” she said, echoing the thoughts of many who probably woke up the day after the election and realized that hey, shit is bad, it’s time to go. But Davis has chosen to stay and fight the good fight and makes time in her Wokening schedule to make sure her daughter knows that she is beautiful.

“I have to tell her, ‘Your curls are beautiful, your black skin is beautiful,’” she said in her remarks. “’You’re beautiful. You’re powerful. You’re a goddess’ … because she needs to know this.” She also makes sure pictures of important people like Serena Williams are on prominent display in her home. At least there’s that.

Kylie Jenner’s own security guards didn’t recognize her when she pulled up to the gate of her own damn house, according to a Snapchat story neatly summarized by People.

“So, I just pulled up to my gate and I was like, you know, normal routine, ‘Hey, it’s Kylie Jenner,’ ” she said in one Snap. “You know, waits for the gate to open, and he was like, ‘Are you with Kylie Jenner?’ ”

“I was like, ‘Oh no. It’s the Kylie Jenner.’ And it’s just the first time I was able to say that in a proper conversation,” she added. “I never thought I’d be able to say that.”

“I’m not saying, ‘Oh my God, guys. He didn’t know who the f— I was. It’s crazy.’ ”

“I’ve just known these guards since I was, like, f—— born. Maybe it’s the hair. I don’t know. I’ve lived here all my life.”

Maybe this fun story is actually the universe’s way of telling her to slow her roll with whatever it is she’s doing to her face and relax for a sec.
