Certain Women Traces Intersecting Lives Of Three Small Town Women

The trailer for Kelly Reichardt’s latest film, Certain Women, promises a quiet, introspective look at the lives of three women from a small Montana town.

Starring Michelle Williams—who has appeared in other Reichardt productions—Laura Dern, and Kristen Stewart, the film is based on a short story collection entitled “Both Ways Is the Only Way I Want It” by Maile Meloy. It also introduces Lily Gladstone who, based on the trailer, seems to play Stewart’s love interest. The trailer offers us a brief and gentle glimpse at each woman’s circumstances. Their lives will purportedly intertwine over the course of the film.

Almost unanimously lauded, Certain Women was a wild success when it debuted at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. Its release date in the United States is set for October 14, 2016 and, indeed, its soft emotional intensity seems ideal for fall viewing.
