The People v. O.J., and Many Familiar Faces: Here Are the 2016 Emmy Nominations

A very animated Anthony Anderson and Lauren Graham announced the nominees for the 68th Emmy Awards Thursday morning.

Even though I assume that every single award will somehow be given to The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story, a few other people were nominated as well. Cuba Gooding Jr. and Courtney B Vance both received nominations, as did Sarah Paulson (obviously) who was nominated alongside Kerry Washington for her turn as Anita Hill in HBO’s Confirmation.

Anthony Anderson kept things interesting by freaking out whenever they announced a nomination for Black-ish, with his loudest screaming coming after his own nomination. His co-star Tracee Ellis Ross was nominated as well.

We have some old faces with Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Claire Danes. Jeffrey Tambor and Kevin Spacey all receiving noms. Aziz Ansari’s Master of None also picked up nods for Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.

Notably, The Daily Show was shut out of the Variety Talk Series category where they’ve at least been nominated every year since 2001. Additionally,
it seems we’ve finally broken the Modern Family spell.

Here are the nominees in the major categories, and the full list is here.
