On May 20, Johnny Depp lost his mother. Two days later, he and his wife Amber Heard separated, with the latter citing irreconcilable differences in the divorce petition she filed on Monday. AP reports that Heard and Depp met in 2011 as co-stars in The Rum Diary.
According to TMZ’s sources, the couple, married in February 2015, had no prenuptial agreement. Heard is seeking spousal support, although Depp has asked the judge to reject this claim through his lawyer, the famed Laura Wasser. Wasser, a favored lawyer for celebrity divorce cases, has represented Melanie Griffith, Angelina Jolie, Britney Spears, and Kelis in their respective divorces. Jennifer Garner and Gwen Stefani are two of her most recent clients.
