Donald Trump Jr., son of fossilized meatball and GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump, wants you to know that it’s hard out there for a rich boy. As the son of a ludicrously wealthy businessman-turned-politician, people insist upon underestimating him.
Buzzfeed reports:
“‘Now, listen, in this country I’m the son of a billionaire, I can’t even have an opinion anymore,’ Trump Jr. said on Breitbart News Daily. ‘I could be Albert Einstein and they would discredit me as a horrible scientist. It doesn’t matter.’”
Poor Junior. He didn’t ask for this life of privilege. Besides, he was “spoiled the right way” — not like those other rich kids gallivanting about and shooting African wildlife for sport.
And yet, according to Buzzfeed, Trump Jr. claims to have been raised by his father to value diligence and hard work:
“‘He made us work, and it wasn’t like you start off and all of a sudden you’re the CEO of the organization,’ he said. ‘You know, we weren’t trust fund babies. We were very fortunate. We experienced great things, but we were spoiled the right way. We were spoiled with great education, great experiences, we weren’t spoiled with cash. You know, like I said, I’m the only son of a billionaire who can drive a D10 just because those were the jobs I had growing up.’”
If it’s pity Trump Jr. seeks, well, he may have it. But it likely stems from being the son of a bonafide racist and sexist rather than from the perceived misfortunes of wealth.
