Variety reports that Tina Fey and Ronda Rousey will star together in Do Nothing Bitches, a comedy written by longtime Fey friend, Paula Pell. The title takes its name from an interview with Rousey in which she said that her mother raised her not to be a “do nothing bitch.” The interview went viral and has become something of Rousey’s catchphrase.
Deadline reports that the film will a “female-empowerment tale” (terrible phrase) where “wealthy pampered wives who get a rude awakening at a camp where Rousey plays the no-nonsense instructor.”
This will be Fey’s second film with Pell, who was a Saturday Night Live writer. Their first collaboration was the recently released comedy, Sisters, which also starred Amy Poehler. Variety notes that despite competition from Star Wars, Sisters, “worked as solid counter-programing,” and has earned $77 million.
The announcement seems to indicate Rousey’s interest in moving towards acting. In addition to Do Nothing Bitches, Rousey’s set to star in a reboot of Road House, the 1989 Patrick Swayze camp classic. Filming for Rousey’s Road House begins in April and, hopefully, it will be as terribly good as the original.
